StemStars is a new initiative established by four PLD seniors to support STEM education at the elementary school level. The students partnered with Mrs. Amanda Boyle at Cardinal Valley Elementary School to create hands-on models that add a creative and engaging dimension to the standard STEM curriculum. Kindergarten through second-grade students designed two-dimensional plant models that aligned with their classroom lessons, making connections not only to plant structures but also to their functions. For example, students represented the stem as a straw, helping them understand its role in transporting water. Fourth- and fifth-grade students created three-dimensional models of the water cycle, highlighting key concepts such as precipitation, evaporation, and condensation. Overall, the program provided an immersive learning experience aimed at increasing student interest in STEM as a whole.
