Jackson Poynter, Staff Reporter
My name is Jackson Poynter and I am a Photographer for Lamplighter. I’ve always been interested in photography since I was young. I started out with my grandfather’s old film camera that I barely knew how to use. During my tenth grade year, I took a photography class and learned how to use a camera to its fullest extent. It was during the scheduling of that year that I became away of Lamplighter and I decided to join to continue doing photography and to learn about journalism. I learned from there more about photography then I thought I could learn. I learned more specifically more about sports photography and how to convey meanings and events through my pictures.
A little about me is that I am a senior at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Currently, I desire to major in Engineering at the University of Kentucky and possibly take a minor in photography. The engineering program at the U.K. will allow me to figure out which area is best for me. This is my second year in lamplighter, and I am looking forward to my final year not only at PLD but at Lamplighter.
