Leah Edmond Commits to Kentucky

The senior volleyball player signs with the Wildcats

Standout volleyball player Leah Edmond signed her National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for the University of Kentucky on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015.

Edmond came to Dunbar the end of her freshman year, and played her first season as a Bulldog at the start of her sophomore year. She immediately made an impact on the team. She has been First Team All-City since her sophomore year, All-State team since her junior year, and was named the 2015 Region 11 Player of the Year along with the Second Team Under Armour All-American. With all of these honors and awards, Edmond had her choice of Division I schools. At one point, she was considering schools near her former hometowns. In the end, however, she decided the University of Kentucky was the best fit for her.Leah Edmond and Madison Winstead smile after signing their National Letters of Intent.

“I love the coaches, I love Lexington and I love the school,” said Edmond. “I just feel in love with the whole package.”

Although she will be playing volleyball for the University of Kentucky, her education will also be a priority. She plans on majoring in Kinesiology and hopes to have a career in Sports Medicine.

“This is the school for me – I couldn’t picture myself anywhere else.”
