An Ode to the Dancin’ Dogs
Dunbar’s Dance Team earn title National Grand Champs
Every team works towards one goal—to win; to succeed. On Mar. 13, 2016, The Dunbar Dancin’ Dogs did just that.
Dunbar’s Dance Team managed to claim the title of “National Grand Champions” at US Spirit, hosted at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
The team of 20 performed a patriotic routine this year, which has been perfected since September of 2015. The team had practices six days a week in order to prepare for Nationals, on top of practicing for football
and basketball routines and sideline cheers. The team also performed their 2015 Nationals routine at various state competitions.
Teresa Champe has coached the team for 26 years, and she shows no signs of slowing down soon.
“Winning Nationals is the icing on the cake for me. This team is a part of my heart,” said Champe. “I love the girls who invest their time in my passion for dance, and allow me to share part of their four years of high school with me.” The future of the team is bright, as Champe is optimistic about competitions to come.
Seniors Emily Holdren, Mallie Stewart, Maddie Ellis and Paige Isaac all helped lead the team to their title this year.
Congratulation on the win girls – keep up the good work!
