  • The Bean at Millennium Park is always packed with people touching and crowded around. With the events that have happened this year, the only thing visible from the Bean is the reflection of the city.

  • No boats or people are to be seen on the side of the river where typically many families enjoy their time together admiring the Chicago skyline.

  • Many buildings in large cities have been putting up messages for people to see at night. The idea of gratitude is receiving new emphasis as the pandemic continues.

  • Since March 12, the Chicago Theatre has had to close their doors to performances. Since then, 700 shows have been cancelled.

  • The holiday spirit is nowhere to be seen as the streets lack people, laughter, and joy. The saxophone players and musicians that usually roam the streets of Chicago are absent.

  • The Macy’s store was close to empty on Black Friday as many people avoided shopping in store and relied on online shopping.

  • Parking garages, which are typically packed and difficult to navigate, were empty. Many people are avoiding traveling in fear of getting sick and contracting COVID-19.
