Bulldogs Fall to the Commodores
Dunbar football lost to Tates Creek 37-0 on Sept. 8.
Coming off a 17-0 loss to GRC, Dunbar(0-3) looked to win their first game of the season against Tates Creek (3-1) as Tanner Cox and the offense tried to improve their overall performance, and to score for the first time all year.
Dunbar got the running game going early with Joe Walker and Alex Bard, but they lost momentum and were forced to punt. Tates Creek’s offense was stalled for the first couple of plays while the Dunbar defense looked dominant. but on the next play, Creek connected for a 25 yard completion at the 12 yard line on busted coverage by the bulldogs which set them up for the score, giving them a 7-0 lead.
The Bulldogs started gaining momentum when the Commodores threw an interception to senior, Kaden Gaylord, but the offense still struggled and their punt was blocked by Creek at the 10 yard line and eventually got the touchdown
The Bulldogs have improved each week with their running game and are on the edge of pulling it all together. Sophomore Mitchell Joseph gave the Bulldogs a boost with him running and putting the ‘dawgs in a good position rushing for 40 yards in the second half. Juniors Alex bard and Joe Walker rushed for 40 yards each as well.
At the start of the 4th quarter, the Bulldogs found themselves back in the end zone punting once again after a big penalty. The snap goes out of bounds creating a safety for Tates Creek making the score 30-0.
Tates Creek scored at the end of the game giving them the 37-0 win.
The Bulldogs next game is sept. 16th at McCreary Central.
