Teens and Politics: What Do We Know?
A Political Pop Quiz illustrates what students need to know
When it comes to celebrity breakups, the newest fashion trends or the latest gossip, teens can keep up without blinking an eye. But when it comes to politics, teens struggle to stay on top of it. Whether it’s presidential candidates, state senators, actions being made in the White House, it’s all a foreign language to teens.
In an effort to help teens become more conscious of the political world, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School offers a mandatory Citizenship class for incoming freshmen. This class helps students learn the everyday functions of the government, the history of the Constitution and current political issues.
With many of these opportunities available, there shouldn’t be any excuse to be oblivious to the political world. Hopefully, Dunbar students can keep up.
I really do enjoy going on long walks on the beach, I hate bad drivers, and I find pleasure in eating sushi during my free time.
