How to Handle Finals
It is really important that everyone is prepared for finals because they are worth 15 percent of this semester’s grade. Here are some tips to help you get the best grade on finals.
Make Flashcards
Taking notes is often a difficult way to keep up with information. Notes often cover too much information for a person to memorize all at once. To memorize the information in small increments make flash cards for the most important lesson points. If you want to make it fun use brightly colored flashcards so that you can color code the information. Flash cards are useful because they are easy to carry, so when you have down time in a class you can study for your finals by quizzing yourself on the information.
Where Do You Study
When studying the atmosphere you surround yourself with is important to how successful your study session is. If you have to
Study with Friends
If notes and flashcards don’t help you, try getting together with friends to study. Everybody learns differently so your friends may have an efficient way to remember the information that you would not think of on your own. Studying with friends will not only help you remember the information, but it will also be a fun way to get ready for finals. Although it may be fun, one downfall of studying like this is that it can be very distracting. To make sure you don’t get distracted, turn off your phones and avoid using a computer. If you remove distractions from your study session then it will be more productive.
Split It and Switch It
If you study only one subject at a time you are likely to forget information. If you study a little from each class multiple times then you will be able to better remember the information you need for the test. Taking the information in at different times allows you to not get tired of one subject. Don’t study your information one time and leave it though; come back to it another time to review. You also won’t be as stressed because you will have spread out the studying so that you develop a solid knowledge of the information studied. However if you do study this way, you can’t procrastinate. Studying takes time, and if you want to do well you have to put in that time.
Overall, how you prepare for finals can mean the difference between letter grades. Be sure that you study, because there is a lot of information packed into a semester. Don’t overwork yourself while getting ready for the test. Finals determine a large portion of your grade, so being prepared is vital to your success.
