All The Important Events During Joe Biden’s Inauguration

Here are all of the important events that you may have missed during the 2021 Inauguration.

Last year’s election was one of the most important in history. It had one of the best voter turnouts, and overall had the whole country’s attention. So it makes sense that so many people would be interested in the inauguration for the new president of the United States, Joe Biden, especially after a dramatic week beforehand with the riots at the capitol. So because so many people were so interested in it, here are all the important things that happened during the Inauguration.

Last week’s Inauguration saw President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris get sworn in at the US Capitol. This makes Kamala Harris the first female, Black, and South Asian Vice President in the history of the United States according to CNN, and Joe Biden became the 46th President of the United States.

Another important thing to note is that former President, Donald Trump was not there. He had left for his home in Florida just hours beforehand. However, former Vice President Pence was still in attendance for Biden’s Inauguration.

Another story was the lack of guests there. Normally, members of Congress get a total of 200,000 tickets all together to hand out for the ceremony. But this year, each member only got one according to Washington Post. This was due to the rapidly increasing number of cases of COVID-19.

Biden’s first main focus of his presidency is to help slow the spread of COVID-19, as well as economic relief for families and businesses. It’s no surprise given the fact that his campaign centered around trying to stop the virus and to get things back to normal. Soon after that, he will focus on climate and immigration.

He also said that “unity,” and the country uniting as a whole was very important to him. He said, “This is a great nation. We’re a good people and to overcome the challenges in front of us requires the most elusive of all things in a democracy – unity.” He also said, “If you’re ever working with me and I hear you treating another colleague with disrespect, talking down to someone, I will fire you on the spot…”(Quote from CNN.com). He not only wanted the citizens to act in unity but also the government.

The events at the Inauguration concluded with a firework show, with Biden and his family watching, as well as with a performance by Katy Perry.

These are all the things you need to know about 2021’s Presidential Inauguration.
