Dear Abby: Crush Advice and Date Ideas

In this third issue of Lamplighter’s Dear Abby column, we answer these important questions submitted by Dunbar students.

Dear Abby,

How do I know if somebody is into me? -Anonymous

Dear Anonymous,

Figuring out how people feel about you can be difficult. People give off mixed signals, even if they don’t mean to. A lot of the “signs” people use can contradict each other, making you confused and lost. There are certain things you can look for in their body language. For example, when a girl is into you, she might touch her hair a lot, try to get closer to you or address you individually in group conversations. She might also seem extra nervous and laugh at everything you say, even if it is not actually funny.

Guys do some of the same things, but they also do things like spreading out when you are around and not knowing what to do with their hands. They also make stupid jokes because they don’t know what to say, stare at you when they think you are not looking and generally be nicer to you than they are to most people. Both boys and girls do things such as playing “mean” with each other and they will play-hit you or push you just so they can touch you. No matter who they are, they probably do most or all of these things. Make sure to watch their body language and you will have them all figured out in no time.

XOXO,

Abby

Dear Abby,

I just met the person of my dreams and I need to think of cute date ideas. Any suggestions? -Anonymous

Dear Anonymous,

With the leaves changing and the weather getting cooler, it’s the perfect time to cuff that special someone. Halloween is coming up so there are so many options. If you want to go somewhere, you could go to the pumpkin patch, haunted house, a corn maze, go to the football games, or have a picnic. If you don’t want to leave the comfort of your house you could do things like, have a bonfire where you can cuddle up or have a scary movie marathon. No matter what you do, as long as you guys are together it should be a great time!

XOXO,

Abby
