Dunbar All-Comers Track Meet April 21, 2015

Tuesday afternoon was another good day for the Bulldogs track team to have a home meet. Many schools competed inside and outside Fayette County including Scott, Harrison, and Paris. The girls and boys both had an exceptional day.

On the boys’ team, many placed first or second in the events. Sophomore William Allen placed first in 2 events, the 100 meter and 200 meter dash.  He timed at 11.11 and 21.65 in the two events. Junior Charlie Leppo got second in the 110 meter hurdle at 16.7. Senior Elijah Olige won the 400 meter dash with a 51.59 time. Braxton Edge also won an event in the 300 meter hurdles timing at 43.31. Junior Timmy Michael won the 800 meter run at 2:05.31.

For the girls, they mirrored the boys’ team in their events. Senior Laura Edwards took first place in 2 events as well. The 100 and 200 meter dash, going 12.85 and 26.11 for both. Freshmen  Annie Vandenberg also placed first in two events. Her times were 5:27.53 in the 1,600 meter run and 2:29 flat in the 800 meter run.

As a team, both boys and girls succeeded. For the girls’ team they came in first overall for the 17 events with a score of 82. The girls beat the second place team0 by 18 points. In the 17 events recorded for the boys, they won with an overall 115 score over Scott County who had a 93.

“An exceptional day for both teams didn’t fail to impress,” said Senior Elijah Olige.
