Foster Child Asks for Adoption

Recently, a 15 year old boy named Davion Only from Florida stood up in front of a crowded church and pleaded with the congregation to adopt him.

“I’ll take anyone. Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don’t care. And I would be really appreciative. The best I could be,” Only said.

Only was born in prison, and was put into foster care a few months after he was born. He recently discovered that his birth mother, who was a drug addict, died, and that his biological relatives can’t adopt him due to a criminal past.

Because of this, he decided to ask to be adopted by a different family.

After he stood up in front of the church, his story went viral. People all over the world heard his story and sent in their information to be considered by the adoption agency.

Hundreds of families submitted their information, and Only’s social worker is working on narrowing down the list to about 10 families for Only to choose from.

Only lives in a foster home with quite a few other young boys, and he is trying to get them to be adopted as well.

“There’s only one me. But all my friends, all the other guys at the group home, all these other kids need families, too,” said Only.

There are foster children all over the United States who need to be adopted, and many don’t get the opportunity that Only has.

Only’s story has raised awareness on the foster child situation in the US, inspiring more and more families to consider adoption.
