The Senior Dinner Dance is on Jan. 21 and everyone is talking about it! Let’s see what students and teachers have to say.

“ Senior Dinner Dance is a semi-formal for only seniors at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School or those graduating with Dunbar. It is not considered a date dance, it is just a big event for the senior class,” math teacher and senior class adisor Mrs.Sarah Lubbe said.

Mrs. Lubbe saya that this event is strictly only for seniors who will be graduating because the last year of high school should be special.

The last year of high school is going to be very precious for the ones graduating and even for the students in the future.

“ It is a buffet dinner, dancing, and photo booth event at the downtown Hilton,” Mrs. Lubbe said. 

This event is meant to reward seniors for their hard work throughout their highschool. 

Although many students are excited for the Dinner Dance, some people aren’t going.

“I’m not going to the senior dinner dance because I have to study for the ACT. I need the scholarship money and a way I can get more money is by having a higher ACT score,” senior Theo Cseledy said. 

“ It’s kind of annoying because I was really hoping to go but because the dates are close, I can’t,” he said. 

With the tickets being 80 dollars, it is the most expensive ticket price of any event at Paul Laurence Dunbar.

“ The tickets were really expensive too, I think they were like 80 dollars, so studying for the ACT just felt more reasonable” said Theo 

There were a lot of complaints about the price of the tickets from everyone and not including the seniors.

“ The tickets for the Senior Dinner Dance is really expensive,” said a freshman named Meher Kapur.

On the other hand, people are excited for this event for some specific reasons.

“ I’m excited to hang out with my friends for one of the last few times in high school. I think it is going to be a really good night also because it’s just seniors and it is a chance to hang out with our entire class before graduation,” senior Kayal Senthil said.  

The Senior Dinner Dance is one of the last events besides Prom where students really get to cherish the time together. 

The Dinner Dance also has an extravagant theme, Winter Wonderland, and has lots of food.

“ The destination and the theme is so cool that it’s at a ballroom and that the theme is winter wonderland and I’m so excited to feel like a princess,” Kayal said. 

After a memorable 4 years of High School, the class of 2023 are excited to make so many memories at the Senior Dinner Dance and cherish the moments they have together before parting for college.
