Summertime in Tennessee
There are several different destinations when it comes to traveling for summer. Frankly, you can go anywhere in the world.
Some of the more common places are anywhere that has warm weather and a beach or ocean. But, I plan on going to the lake a lot this summer. I usually go stay at my uncle and aunt’s house on Cherokee Lake in Talbott, Tennessee.
Their house is located on the lake in a nice cove that blocks you from the currents of the lake. The still waters make it a great place to wake surf, and wake board. These are my two favorite things to do when I am at the lake.
Some other things that we do include driving the jet ski, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing. Fishing is one of my favorite things to do there. The main type of fishing we do is for striped bass. The striped bass are huge there. They can weigh anywhere from 25 lbs to 95 lbs. The biggest striped bass that I caught was 62 lbs. It took an hour and a half to reel in and my arms were burning during and after we got the fish in the boat.
There is also a nice hiking trail by their house which I usually walk once a day. The trail is about 6 miles long and leads onto an island when the water is down. The island is extremely beautiful and has a big covered area with seats and a hammock. The view is amazing and looks out onto the lake and right around dusk you can see the sunset as it goes down below the treeline.
If we go out to dinner, we usually go to the restaurant at the marina called Off The Dock and has amazing daily fish specials that always have fish that were caught in the lake that day.
This is where I plan to go this summer and I can’t wait.
