On Dec. 22 Wake Forest played Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl. Wake Forest came back from an 18-point deficit beating Memphis with a tight score of 37-34. Therewith five lead changes and 907 yards of offense in the game. The passing leaders were #12 Jamie Newman for Wake Forest, throwing 22/40 for 328 yards with a touchdown, and #3 Brady White for Memphis, throwing 15/27 for 171 yards with a touchdown. The rushing leaders were #12 Jamie Newman for Wake Forest, with 23 carries for 91 yards and 3 touchdowns, and #6 Patrick Taylor Jr. for Memphis, with 30 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown. The receiving leaders were #1 Alex Bachman for Wake Forest, with 7 receptions for 171 yards, and #10 Damonte Coxie for Memphis, with 6 receptions for 70 yards. The defensive leaders were #23 Justin Strnad for Wake Forest, with 9 solo and 2 assisted tackles, and #7 Curtis Akins for Memphis, with 8 solo and an assisted tackles.
