PLD 5K Supports Cancer Research
This year, the PLD Student Council hosted its very first Spooky 5kurry, a 5k run/walk on Sunday, Oct. 13.
The proceeds from the race will be used to support the Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic in addition to supporting the research at the UK Markey Cancer Center. The Golden Matrix Fund was established to help children and families of the DanceBlue KCH Hematology/Oncology Clinic.
Participants were welcome to dress up and compete in the costume competition. The Spooky 5kurry was a dog-friendly race, so many decided to strut with their mutts. In all, there were 100+ runners. Volunteers were along the course to keep participants on track and provide water at checkpoints along the course.
The award categories consisted of Female 18 and Under, Male 18 and Under, Female 19+, and Male 19+.
