Local Church Gives Back for Thanksgiving
A well-known church in the Lexington area is lending a helping hand during this Thanksgiving season. On Nov. 28, Southland Christian Church, partnered with Sal’s Chophouse, will be giving free meals to thousands of people in need. There are two shifts: 9:45 am – 12:30 pm and 12:15 pm – 3:00 pm.
Anyone in the community is allowed to volunteer. There are no age limitations. Currently there is a need for people to both prepare and serve free meals to people who are less fortunate.
Other volunteer opportunities include: Greeters, Traffic attendants, Platers, Servers, Dishwashers and people to clean up afterwards.
In addition, the guests will receive goodie bags and volunteers are needed to make those.
If volunteering isn’t an option, they are also taking dessert donations, which can be dropped off by 9 am that day.
To sign up go to Sals’ Thanksgiving page located on SouthlandChristian.org. Sign up ends whenever all the slots fill up, which is usually on the day of the event.
