Dunbar basketball is back for the 2014-2015 season, and the Lady Bulldogs are back with a vengeance. After being ranked 24^th in Kentucky’s preseason poll, the girls are now ranked 11^th after defeating Walton-Verona in their Dec. 1^st opener, as well Anderson County on Dec. 4^th.

The team has four strong senior players that make up the backbone of the varsity squad: 5’9” shooting forward Nicole Armstrong, 6’0” forward/center Merissa Marrow, 5’7” shooting guard Kristina Rosen and 5’5” guard Kari Lakes. Certainly, fans are excited to see what these players have in store for them. It is too early to make any predictions about how the team will do, but Dunbar High School fear not; nobody wants the opportunity to play in the state tournament more than the players themselves.

Regrettably, boys basketball isn’t off to the same encouraging start. Five students suspended for team violations. In addition to this, senior Jeremy Ward is out with a concussion, and junior Justin Kelley is out with a sprained ankle. The boys have an 0-3 record, with losses against Woodford County, Bryan Station and Scott (Kenton Co.).  Nobody knows if the team will be able to bounce back from their unfortunate circumstances, the only way to find out is to wait and see.

Tonight, Dec. 9^th, the boys face off against Lafayette at home, while the girls will travel to Madison Southern. Dunbar wishes the best for both teams; go bulldogs.
