Hot Spots in Lexington

Lexington has become a popular city with lots of things to do.

Lexington is the second biggest city in Kentucky with a total population around 300,000. The variety of landscapes, family activities, and culture makes the city unique including places like Keeneland, Adrenaline trampoline park, The Summit at Fritz Farm, Triangle Park, and L’escalade Rock Climbing.

Keeneland Race Track

Lexington hosts the major race The Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland. This race qualifies horses for the Kentucky Derby and is known as the world’s largest Thoroughbred auction house.

“It’s one of the most beautiful places in Lexington,” freshman Craig Upton said. “Also with being a runner, Keeneland is an ideal place to run because I can just take in everything from the horses to the tall trees and pastures.”

Adrenaline Trampoline Park

Adrenaline trampoline park is an indoor trampoline park located in Hamburg. This trampoline park is very different from other parks in Lexington like Get Air and Skyzone. Adrenaline has various activities such as trapeze bars, a wipe-out zone, foam pits and block jumping along with their main trampolines.

“I like Adrenaline because it has features that other trampoline parks don’t have, there was a wall that you could jump up to, and a trapeze bar to swing off, it was great. Adrenaline had it all, it has something for all age groups, and overall I had a good experience there,” sophomore Emily Spores said.

The Summit at Fritz Farm

The Summit at Fritz Farm is a new edition to Lexington that opened in April 2017. The shopping center has many different stores such as Lululemon, Kendra Scott, Vineyard Vines and a variety of restaurants. According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Shake Shack and Steel City Pops are two notable restaurants that are popular among teens due to their shakes and popsicles.

The Summit is a good place to meet up and socialize with friends. There are lots of fun shops along with restaurants to eat at. It’s an overall good place to spend your time,” freshman Colin Kessler said.

L’Esclade

L’escalade is a rock climbing facility located on North Broadway. This facility offers different walls to climb based on skill level where most walls require participants to wear a harness. LEF is an atmosphere that combines physical strength with problem-solving.

L’escalade is a really fun place to hang out with friends and get a good workout at the same time,” sophomore Martani Kazadi said.

Triangle Park

Triangle Park is the heart of downtown Lexington with many things to do. There are multiple stores and restaurants that surround the park like Urban Outfitters, Pies & Pints, Saul Good and Starbucks. From November through the beginning of January, Triangle Park’s ice rink is available to the public.

In addition during Christmas, a giant tree is decorated and lit up right next to the rink.

“I don’t get to go downtown very often, but when I do I always enjoy it. I love the environment with all the tall buildings and all the different shops. It definitely defies the stereotype of Kentucky, and I like how Lexington is different and you can go downtown and get a modern day city feel,” sophomore Elizabeth Fitzpatrick said.

Since Lexington was established in 1775, people from all over come to visit this fascinating city. Lexington being the heart of the Bluegrass state has various activities for families and friends to attend.
