Dunbar Volleyball senior, Asia Henderson, was one of eight players in Lexington to be named to the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association Second team All-State. The All-State award is a prestigious honor that all student athletes strive for. She is the only player to be picked from Dunbar this season.

Though Dunbar was defeated in the first round of the playoffs, they were ranked top 10 in the state, due in part by Asia’s performance throughout the season. She ended the season with 71 spikes and 325 kills.

“Throughout my four years in high school, volleyball has taught me how to be a strong leader and how to be tough,” said Asia.

“It taught me how to bring positive energy on the court when it was needed while also supporting everyone’s mistakes and successes.”

Asia said that she will not continue volleyball after high school as she would like to focus more on her education to pursue a career in Pediatrics at the University of Louisville; however, she said that she would miss playing the sport.
